The WaterRower Oxbridge is handcrafted in solid cherrywood. Cherrywood can be reddish-brown to intense red, just like any other wood. The wood will become a deeper shade of color when exposed to light. For this reason, in order to avoid shadowing, all WaterRower Cherrywood components are kept in areas without light. This implies that a new WaterRower Oxbridge will look rather white. However, the wood will eventually darken and acquire a rich reddish hue. The wood of each machine has been given a rich sheen and warmth by three hand-applied coats of Danish Oil. Wood has amazing engineering properties, the most notable of which is its ability to absorb sound and vibration, which contributes to the WaterRower's smooth and silent operation. Like all the woods used to construct WaterRowers, cherrywood is a premium hardwood with incredible longevity and dimensional stability. For ecological reasons, all of the wood we use comes from replenishable forests.

The S4 Monitor shows intensity in watts, Kcalories per hour, /500m (time per 500 meters), mph (mile per hour), watts per second, and m/s (meters per second). It shows the distance in meters, kilometers, and miles; heart rate (with an optional heartrate attachment); the number of strokes and their duration; and stroke rate.
